Last week I was doing a bit of late summer cleaning and found the original copies of my 2009 New York Times essay “The Bridges of Bronx County.” The newspaper copies had aged quite a bit. Worried about their preservation, I decided to have them restored and scanned digitally. I went to Duggal Visual Solutions, which I had been to many times in the past for previous scans. Duggal did a great job. Beyond my wildest expectations!
I am delighted to share the news that I am the recipient of a 2019 Bronx Council on the Arts (BCA) Community Arts grant, which will help fund my upcoming exhibition – Connecting People, Strengthening Communities: The Harlem River Bridges – at the New York Public Library’s Morris Park branch this summer. This is my second photography grant to date. The award celebration will take place Tuesday evening at the Longwood Art Gallery at Hostos in the Bronx.
Since July, examples of my Harlem River Bridges work have been only display in an exhibit titled The Harlem River Bridges at the Hutchinson Metro Center, Tower 1 in the Bronx. Sponsored by Montefiore Medical Center and Simone Development, the exhibit is scheduled to be on display until the end of 2018.
